Transformation
Original painting on canvas
Currently in gallery — not for sale
Transformation explores the space between self-improvement and self-acceptance.
Originally developed as a digital artwork and later reimagined as a large physical painting, the work became a way for ZeTrunk to examine identity, belonging and the parts of himself he believed needed changing.
Fluorescent greens, blues, reds and yellows create a vivid sense of emotional intensity against the bright yellow background . Rich black eyes and bold graphic forms give the image presence, humour and an element of surprise.
After all the work, uncertainty and pressure to transform, the painting arrived at an unexpected conclusion:
There’s nothing wrong with you anyway.
The real transformation was not becoming somebody else. It was recognising the value of the person who had been there from the beginning.
